About Dubrovnik Boat Yacht Rentals

Dubrovnik Boat Yacht Rentals is a small family yacht charter in Dubrovnik. Seven boats, one Marina Frapa berth, the same captain at the slip every morning. We focus on doing one thing well: yacht charter and boat rental in Dubrovnik, run by the people who actually own the keys.

How we got here

The company was registered in 2018, but the boats here started years earlier. Captain Ivan Kovač spent more than a decade running charters for other Dalmatian operators — Korčula, Hvar, Šibenik, and back home to Dubrovnik — before deciding the cleanest version of the business was to run a small fleet himself, from one dock, with the family.

He opened with a single Pasara tied at Lapadska obala. Two seasons later he added a Barracuda 530, then a Quicksilver 675 the year after. Today the family operates seven boats out of Marina Frapa, Lapad — covering everything from no-licence boat hire in Dubrovnik for two people to a 10-guest premium Quicksilver 805 SD for full-day yacht charter to Mljet, Korčula, and the Elafiti islands.

The way we work

We’ve turned down OTA reseller agreements because they push the price up without paying the captain more, and we’ve turned down outside investment because every change in ownership in this trade ends with the boats being run by someone who’s never met you. The model is deliberately small.

  • One dock — Lapadska obala 21a, Marina Frapa, Lapad. Every charter departs and returns here.
  • One family — Captain Ivan, senior skipper Marko, and operations lead Lana. You speak to one of these three on every booking.
  • One price — the dock price. Fuel for the agreed route, snorkel kit, towels, drinking water, marina fees, full Croatia Osiguranje liability cover. No OTA commission, no end-of-trip extras, no fuel-meter dispute.
  • Seven boats — chosen for the route, not for the brochure photo. We tell guests honestly which boat fits which day.

Licensing & insurance

Yacht charter in Dubrovnik is regulated by the Croatian Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure (MMPI). Our certificates and registrations are on the office wall at Marina Frapa, and we’ll email copies on request before you transfer a deposit.

  • Croatian Ministry of the Sea (MMPI) — registered charter operator at Marina Frapa, Lapad
  • MMPI Boat Skipper License, Category B — Captain Ivan Kovač
  • Croatian Tourist Board (HTZ) — registered tourism provider
  • Croatian Chamber of Economy (HGK) — member
  • Croatia Osiguranje — full maritime third-party liability insurance, every hull, every charter
  • STCW Basic Safety Training + VHF Radio Operator Certificate — all skippers

The crew

You will meet the same three people on every booking.

Captain Ivan Kovač — founder and master skipper. Born in Lapad, on the water before he could walk. Started skippering for Dalmatian charter fleets in the late 2000s; opened the company in 2018. Languages: Croatian, English, Italian.

Marko Perić — senior skipper. Five seasons with the fleet. Marine biologist background; PADI Divemaster; first-aid + AED certified. The skipper guests on his boat get a quiet running commentary on Adriatic ecology between swim stops. Languages: Croatian, English, German.

Lana Vukov — operations and guest liaison. Croatian Tour Guide License, WSET Level 2 (Wines of Dalmatia). Handles every booking, every weather call, every route plan. If you’ve WhatsApped at 11pm with a question about Blue Cave timing or a child’s life jacket size, you’ve talked to Lana. Languages: Croatian, English, French, Spanish.

Our promise to you

  • Free weather rebook — winds above 15 knots, we move you to another day or refund in full. We will never push you out into a sea that isn’t safe to enjoy.
  • Direct dock pricing — 15–25% below the same boat on Viator or GetYourGuide. The savings are commission we don’t pay, not corner-cutting.
  • One price, no extras — published prices include fuel for the agreed route, snorkel gear, towels, water, marina fees, and insurance. No surprise at return.
  • The boat you booked is the boat you board — we don’t sub-charter to other operators when we’re full. If a boat isn’t available we’ll tell you before you pay.
  • The captain who starts your charter is the captain who finishes it.
